About YappyKit
YappyKit is a growing set of everyday file tools (compress an image, remove a photo’s metadata, compare spreadsheets, fit a video under a limit, make a passport photo, scan a document) that run entirely in your browser.
Who runs it
YappyKit is a personal project, built and run by Rajesh Pillai in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The same name appears in the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, and answers the contact address on those pages.
Why we built it
The usual “free online tools” make you upload your file to a server, wrap the result in heavy advertising, and hand you confusing technical knobs (quality sliders, bitrate fields, DPI values) when all you wanted was a photo under 100 KB or a video that fits in an email. Uploading a passport scan, a bank statement or a private photo to a stranger’s server just to resize it never sat right.
Modern browsers no longer require any of that. WebAssembly, Web Workers, the Canvas and audio APIs, and on-device machine learning can do the work right where the file already is: on your own device.
How it works
Two things happen on a YappyKit page. Your file is processed by your browser and stays on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers. The page itself loads like any website, including advertising and analytics scripts that make ordinary network requests. Your content is private; your visit is as private as any ad-supported page.
You do not have to take our word for it: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab, and run any tool. No request ever carries your file. Because the work is local, there is also no upload wait, no file-size ceiling, and the tools keep working offline once loaded.
What YappyKit is, and isn’t
- Free to use, with no account required for the tools.
- Focused on small, bounded tasks done well, not a replacement for professional suites.
- Not a cloud service: single user, single device, single session.
- Not a wrapper around someone else’s processing API: if it can’t be done on your device, it doesn’t ship here.
